Rep. Phelps Finnie Uses Veterans Lives as Political Pawns in Shameful Mailer

METROPOLIS — In Rep. Natalie Phelps Finnie’s latest negative mailer, related to veterans, she shamelessly claims that Patrick Windhorst “will turn his back on our heroes.” In the most disgusting attack to date from Phelps Finnie’s camp, Natalie claims that Windhorst “would oppose funding lifesaving medical care for our veterans” (Exhibit #1). This is a total and complete lie.

Windhorst is shocked Rep. Phelps Finnie would stoop this low to score political points saying, “My father, my grandfather, many in my wife’s family and several of my personal friends are veterans. I find it appalling that Rep. Phelps Finnie claims that I would turn my back on our nation’s heroes, let alone my own father. If Natalie is a person of integrity, she will demand that Mike Madigan stop sending this false claim to voter’s mailboxes on her behalf. Her actions after today will speak volumes.”

CLAIM: “And Windhorst shamefully said he would oppose funding lifesaving medical care for our veterans”

THE TRUTH: Patrick Windhorst has never said that he would oppose “life-saving” medical care to veterans. In the story cited by the Phelps Finnie mailer, Windhort’s one quote was from a Facebook post (Exhibit #2) disagreeing with Phelps Finnie on her vote for a progressive income tax supported by Mike Madigan and JB Pritzker — nothing to do with veterans.

This is a dishonest political hit job using our country’s heroes as a front. Veterans serve our country with honor — Natalie should stop dishonoring their lives for political gain.
