Hiking is one of the best ways of getting to know your neighbors. Not only is it a healthy exercise, a walk in the nature can be a great place to get to know someone.

In case you are looking for some hikes to go on with your neighbors, here is a list of some of our favorite hikes in the bay area. They are all easily accessible and easy/moderately strenuous so that you don’t get out of breath and are able to have a good conversation while walking

Stanford Dish

Perfect on a cold sunny day. There is hardly any tree cover here — so be sure to carry a cap and water with you. It’s a scenic 4 mile loop with stunning views of the bay area and Stanford University.

Rancho San Antonio — Wild cat loop

One of my personal favorites. It’s a easy 4.5mile hike with a 600ft elevation gain. This hike is mostly shaded which makes it perfect for any season. This short hike leads to the deer hollow farm which is a popular place for kids as they can see various different kind of animals.

Mission Peak

This hike can enable you to find your fitness buddies within the community. Mission peak is a popular hike in the bay area with a steep elevation gain. You can catch beautiful views of the bay, gorgeous sunsets or full moon vistas from this hike.

Alum Rock

This is a hidden gem in the foothills of east san jose. It’s a beautiful little park that has many hikes ranging from easy to more strenuous depending on your interests. There is a Youth Science Institute in the middle of the park which has an Aviary housing a few owls. The park is mostly shaded and has 9 reservable picnic areas. Head out to this family friendly park and make a day out of it. This is also an amazing place to spot various kinds of birds.

Russian Ridge

The Bay Area Ridge Trail is another popular hike in the area. This 3,137-acre preserve is known for its showy display of wildflowers in spring. In summer, the hills turn to gold with the late evening sunlight. Autumn, when the fog recedes, is the ideal time to enjoy the ridge views of San Francisco Bay and the Santa Cruz Mountains through the crisp, clean air.

We definitely urge you to plan the next hiking trip with your neighbors on Whiskk and try out one of the trails above.
