iTunes: Let Me Pay You More Money to Fix My Mistake

Renting a movie from the two big players gives you a window of time to start watching your movie, as low as 48 hours, and as high as 30 days.

Once you hit play, you’ll have another window to finish (or re-watch) the movie. If you never remember to start your movie, however, you’re greeted with the following:

I rented 14 movies from iTunes this year, and it happened to me three times, for Dear White People, Time Lapse and Margin Call. In the first two cases, I had paid only $0.99 for the movie, as part of Apple’s regular promotion and the price had gone up since.

Would I have paid another $0.99 for another day of availability? Absolutely.

Would I pay the full price, anywhere from $3.99-$5.99 to re-rent the movie? Absolutely not. Not to mention, Dear White People has since become available on Netflix (and I haven’t watched it yet).

He’s right, I’m the sucker who would pay that extra fee. I guess I miss Blockbuster.
