Today we are excited to announce an upgraded line of cookware.

One year ago, we started Equal Parts after discovering the joy and fulfillment that comes from time spent cooking. To say we’ve learned a lot since then would be an understatement. Still, as we take a moment to reflect, appreciate how we’ve grown, and take a purposeful step forward, our mission remains the same: to help make cooking at home easier, so that you can enjoy it more.

One year ago this week, we announced that after a decade of running Gin Lane, we were hanging up our agency hat to build and grow our own brands as a new company, Pattern. We wrote:

Pattern is a multi-brand consumer goods company owned and operated under one roof, with each of its brands working together toward one mission: To help our generation find more enjoyment in daily life.

To say a lot has happened since this time last year is an understatement.

Nearly a year ago, we founded Pattern as a family of brands with the mission to help people enjoy daily life.

It is clear that this mission is unattainable as long as our systems remain broken and biased, and Black Americans live in fear. Our mission inherently reflects privilege. Most of us have never had to live in fear for our own safety while sitting in our cars, going out for a jog, or sleeping in our own bed. We will not let the loss of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and too many Black lives be in vain…

To our community:

Nearly 8 months ago we launched Pattern as a family of brands with the mission to help our generation enjoy daily life. We sought to do this by engaging our community with rituals and activities in the home, such as cooking and home organization, that we found personally helpful to stay present, energized, and calm in a chaotic and stressful world.

Today, we face an unprecedented health crisis that has left many of us anxious, exhausted, and unsure of what lies ahead. …

Each day there are many opportunities to find the flow state, but it can be challenging knowing how to get started. As a team, we found that by sharing our individual journeys we were better able to find flow together.

Along the way, we learned that tools can be helpful in setting the stage and helping you lock into a more immersive and present moment.

As we finish out February, we wanted to share some of our team’s favorite tools to find the flow state everyday.

We love our local coffee shops and also respect that it can be wonderful…

Modern times come with no shortage of noise and activity. It’s easy to be overstimulated, constantly distracted at work or when walking down the street. By constantly shifting our attention like this, our stress levels rise without us even noticing. And often, we look to lightweight TV or our phones as an attempt to release our grip and relax.

Our team knows that feeling well. New York City, our home, is especially frenetic. …

We’re taking a closer look at the flow state this month. Last week, we shared an introduction to the concept and the work of our favorite Hungarian psychology professor, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. This week, we’re sharing simple ways to get into the flow in your daily life.

While we love being in the flow state — and while we’re designing brands to help you slow down, be present, and get into the flow — we know it’s not always so easy…

Much of what we do at Pattern is meant to give people chances to slow down and get present. In doing so, we hope to offer chances to experience the flow state.

Here, we’ll share a brief overview of what that means, plus simple ways to help you find your flow.

What is the flow state?

There’s a good chance you’ve experienced the flow state before. Many of us can recall a time when, while deeply engaged in an activity, time seemed to slow down and our senses heightened.

Athletes might know it as being “in the zone.” Cooks often refer to it as “the…

Today we are excited to launch Open Spaces, the second brand in the Pattern family.

Open Spaces is a home organization brand founded with the mission to help our community Create Space to Enjoy through our products and guidance.

We offer a curated line of high-quality organization essentials designed to enhance your space. Each product is highly versatile, made from long-lasting materials, and has a lower environmental impact than alternatives. While organization products traditionally are meant to be hidden out of sight, ours function beautifully on display and can also be easily tucked away.

Finding the right products is just the first step on the path to a more organized home. Open Spaces also offers…

Make your year about direction, not destination.

This year, the team at Pattern is thinking about intentions rather than resolutions. It’s a subtle change, yet we’ve found time and again that subtle changes can have profound effects.

With the shift, we’re focusing on daily actions rather than results, intrinsic motivation rather than extrinsic, and factors we can control rather than externalities.

In the past, our resolutions have too often focused on external pressures and expectations others set for us.

We’ve learned it’s important to consider what truly makes life better. Because many of us have wondered, when we’ve checked all…
