Katharine, my mom is not a Christian, my grandmothers are both deceased. I have a precious mentor who has walked with me for over twenty years now. She mothered me in the faith, walked me through raising my boys, helped me learn how to love my husband well, and more. I have shared my heart, my trials, my wounds, my history with her. God has used her to bridge a gap between myself and Him and ultimately I am walking more intimately with Him because of her faithfulness. I know younger women these days who are craving — literally crying out — for mentors. Not all older women feel equipped to provide this, even though they often can do more than they think. We’ve been discussing this need in women’s leadership in our church lately. This article is so timely.
