I respect your idea and you may get much support for it. But I’m a Democrat and I believe the 2-party system is effective. The problem, as I see it, is that Democrats, since NAFTA and Bill Clinton, have offered support to candidates who don’t share core beliefs of the party — protecting labor, American industry and living-wage jobs. If Bernie doesn’t get the nomination and decides, after all, to run as an Independent, of course I’ll back him. But there are too many third parties out there and I’d rather see us rally around an effort to bring our parents’ and grandparents’ party back in line. Campaign Finance Reform is the absolute key and I don’t believe it will happen until America accepts a candidate who runs on the Democratic ticket exactly in the manner Bernie is doing. What he is doing, whether or not he wins, is changing the face of American politics and I feel very proud to be a part of it.
