Sweden (and other Nordic countries) are the countries Americans seem to refer to as “near perfect socialist” countries, but I’m also referring to well developed democratic socialist nations such as: Australia (where I live), United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, New Zealand, Holland (to name a few), which are incredibly culturally diverse, and inherently socialist.

I think the problem stems not from cultural diversity but from the political system driving whole machine. You refer to clueless people who don’t know how to run the system, however these people are the elect… let me say that again, the community elected them. So where this comes back to is the farcical way in which US Presidents run for office in which they are backed by the industries they are being elected to govern… if that isn’t a conflict of interest I don’t know what is! Not only that, but having a single person wield absolute power seems crackers (and undemocratic) to me.
