I suspect that the author means well, but the article comes off as judgmental, narrow and “label-minded.” Isn’t this how she sees the commercial? Some of people in the commercial are described as such, and she concludes that the commercial is dangerous. I do not believe the author is dangerous — I do not know her and if we sat down for a beer or coffee we might hit it off or not. Who knows? Though I think we wouldn’t know until we actually sat down and tried.
I think the dangerous thing would be for me to give up on others who are dissimilar to me — -and with the new Trump order, I certainly feel like doing that. So many people seem to think it’s their right to project their pain, frustration, hatred onto others. But doesn’t bigotry and hate win if I decide that they the are not worth talking to or reaching out to even if their emotions/beliefs are counter to mine?
