ChatGPT writes some half-decent stand-up comedy. LOL.

Decent comedy? From GPT? At least on observational Seinfeld-like stuff.

Here’s some examples.

Thinking about my fav-all-time cartoon — Gary Larson’s dog scientists — I asked GPT-3 for some stand-up comedy along a similar line: dog doctors.

Write some Seinfeld-like observational stand-up about dog doctors.

GPT
If dogs were doctors, the waiting room would be full of food bowls and the examination process would be a lot of sniffing.

I had a moderately decent chuckle at that one GPT-3 served up to me.

The picture a good stand-up bit paints. Here? Imagining the dog doctor doing that, thinking it’s gonna to solve anything. Come on. At least an upturned lip corner?

Yeah, yeah, you don’t explain comedy. Except this post is about what makes comedy exactly. Maybe you gotta be a Seinfeld or dog person. Our poor ol’ canine friends have nothing much to look forward to apart from lying around the house, a few pats, chasing some rabbits, dinner time . . Or sniffing around.

Well done GPT.

I can hear this one-liner in Jerry Seinfeld’s voice.

GPT nailed it.
