Game over: Tesla FSD beta 11.3 genuinely performs

Tesla’s full self driving (FSD) beta v11.3 just came out this 2nd week of March 2023 . . and it’s compelling. Here’s everything you need to know.

Sure, it’ll need a few sub-point updates, this is 11.3.1, the first 11.3 to go beyond employees. (EDIT: And now we have the even better 11.3.4).

But it’s solid enough that, I’m calling it.

IMO: FSD is solved.

Yes, I said it. What I mean is, the results are so promising, I foresee no technological showstoppers to a practical system.

Wow

I’ve watched a dozen drives of 11.3 by Tesla owners who try to intentionally break the self-driving software with tricky routes including traffic-light controlled vs uncontrolled intersections, back streets, pedestrians, roundabouts, unprotected lefts, double-parked cars, dogs, roadworks . . and highways.

FSD beta still needs a few bugs ironed out but the trajectory is clear:

There is a demonstrable roadmap to submission for regulatory approval for Level 3/4 driving.

We’ve been waiting for this new version 11.3.1 for around 4 months and it’s

  • noticeably better at almost everything
  • unifies the city street and highway modes
