Introducing Ignite’s Venture Partners

Getting by with a little help from our friends

Ignite might be one of the most successful accelerator programmes in Europe, but it’s also one of the leanest. We’ve been careful not to expand too fast, because we recognise that the quality of the delivery team makes or breaks a programme.

2015 is a big year for us. We’ll substantially increase our international presence, beyond our usual US tour. We’ve already expanded to London, partnering with some of the smartest people in the industry to launch CyLon, Europe’s first cyber-security accelerator.

We have a capable team, one of the most experienced in Europe, but we can’t do it all be ourselves. That’s why we’re delighted to announce our Venture Partners, a team of six amazing individuals who’ll support the management team and the startups who choose to work with us:

Vivek mentors on the likes of 500Startups and Startup Chile, is based in Silicon Valley and already supports our portfolio teams with their US activity. Stef and Martyn are hackers and tinkerers, both well known and respected and incredibly passionate about community. Alex and Jules are two of the smartest and most determined people you’ll ever meet, and have experienced the thrills, spills and bellyaches of the startup journey more than most. With Alex, we tap into a ludicrous wealth of startup and corporate experience, from his time spent with Betaworks to his role as Head of Online for Virgin.

As Venture Partners, their roles are very straight-forward — to help Ignite discover, encourage and support early-stage entrepreneurs. We’ve worked with each of them through Ignite for several years. They’re friendly, approachable, have plenty of both talent and humility, and we’re proud that they’ve chosen to join us.

If you see them, please thank them for continuing to give back to the startup community. If you’re a startup considering your next step, they’d be delighted to talk to you.

Ignite is currently accepting applications for Ignition, Ignite’s two day event for startups, featuring angel investors, VCs, free accommodation, cash prizes and much more. Find out more here.
