And Why They Are My Favorites

I was in a list making mood today so I thought I’d write something a little different than usual.

My 3 favorite desserts:

  • Chocolate mousse
  • French style cheesecake
  • Peach cobbler

I like the mousse and the cheesecake because of their delectable, creamy textures. Melt in your mouth deliciousness! The peach cobbler is my favorite because I love peaches and I get a lot of compliments on my recipe. Sorry, it’s a secret though so I can’t share it. 😉

My 3 favorite books:

  • The Bible, specifically the book of Nehemiah.

I like Nehemiah because it is an excellent story of leadership. Nehemiah takes charge of rebuilding the wall around the city of Jerusalem and the project is finished quickly in spite of opposition. It is an interesting study.

  • The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson

The message in this book changed my life. Olson teaches the concept of small, consistent improvement. It was on this concept that I built my SMIDGE Goal Setting System.

  • The Family Nobody Wanted by Helen Doss

I read this book when I was about 11 years old and it lit a passion in my heart to adopt children. I have not yet reached this goal, but hope to either foster or adopt sometime within the next 5–7 years.

My 3 favorite business mentors

  • Laura Brennan

Laura has taught me how to build a Facebook Group to build relationships and share my message to promote my business. I have learned so much from her and her style of teaching by example is so easy to follow. I’ve never met her in person (yet!), but I feel like I know her and consider her a friend.

  • James Clear

I have learned about continuous improvement from James Clear as well as from The Slight Edge. His writing makes concepts so easy to understand.

  • Brendon Burchard

Reading his book The Millionaire Messenger is what made me realize that I shave a valuable story to tell and the world needs to hear it.

My 3 favorite things to do

  • Read

I absolutely love reading. I taught myself how to read when I was 4 years old and I have rarely been without a book since. My family considers me their own personal version of Google because apparently I know everything. I know everything because I read everything.

  • Write

I wrote my first poem when I was I the 3rd Grade. We had to decorate our reading folders and I drew a picture and wrote “Come everyone, let’s read a book. Come everyone, let’s listen and look.” My teacher really liked it and asked me where I had seen it. When I told her I had written it myself she was so impressed she showed the other teachers and they all told me how good it was. I’ve been hooked ever since. 😃

  • Spend time with my family/play board or card games

Family is one of my greatest treasures. Spending time together, laughing at the same inside jokes we told the last time we were together, enjoying delicious food, and just loving the Amazing people I am blessed to call my own. What could possibly beat that?

My 3 favorite songs

These can all speak for themselves…

My 3 favorite places

  • Home

I love being home. Some people might think I’m strange, but given the choice, I’ll choose home every time. I can relax and be comfortable and just be me. Ahhhhhhh….

  • Treasures 4 Teachers

T4T is a local store that is like a thrift store for teachers. Teachers pay a yearly membership fee and then have access to incredibly inexpensive or free books, teaching supplies and tools, and just about everything you can imagine for arts and crafts or tinkering. I call that store my happy place.

  • Colorado Springs/Denver area

Besides two of my sisters living there, that part of the country is incredibly beautiful. I absolutely love it there.

Those are a few of my favorite things. Just for fun. 😃
