21 Things That Destroy A Traveller’s Dreams
What is the one thing you hate the most when you are in a Hotel?

I am compiling a list of things that exasperate any traveller when staying in a hotel, hostel, bed & breakfast or any tourist establishment. I have analysed around 3,000 negative customers’ opinions published in 2016 on Booking.com and TripAdvisor, and I totally agree with them based on my own experiences.
These are the most common things that travellers evaluate as negative in a hotel when they discovered that the room they booked is not as appears on the website, or that the hotel omitted some information and destroyed the excitement for the travellers. Here they are:
- Bad Wi-Fi signal
- Strange smells (plumbing, cigarette smoke, perfume)
- Curtains that let the light come in
- Uncomfortable mattresses and pillows
- Complicated bath taps
- Absence of glasses in the bathroom
- Lack of amenities (shampoo, shower gel, body milk or tooth brush kit, for example)
- Rough towels
- Hairs on the bed
- Paying a deposit for the remote or the hairdryer
- Not being able to find the right TV channels
- Absence of coffee or a teapot
- Cupboards without shelves or hangers
And what about the things that ruin your stay in a hostel?
- Having to ring every time you go out because they didn’t provide you with a key
- Not being able to sleep well due to other travellers
- Rooms without windows
- Needing to bring your own lock
- No evidence of receipt
- Credit cards not allowed
Have you noticed something that has annoyed you along your trip? I’d like to to hear from you to help me increase the list.
