Thank you so much for your story, I’ve never commented on a Medium article but your piece motivated me.
I’ve recently read Michelle Alexander’s The New Jim Crow — colorblindness in the age of mass incarceration. I was absolutely horrified that in a civilized society this could pass not only undetected but accepted by the bulk of American society, I guess much like Slavery and Jim Crow after it.
It’s only reading the personal accounts of people going through this system that we can expose and demonstrate what the real consequences and societal costs ultimately are.

Oh, and your art is kickass. Keep it up
