Claudette Colvin comes to mind. Shunned because of her age, and a pregnancy out of wedlock, that fact that she, in 1955, bravely refused to give up her seat to a white person could have also added inspiration and courage. Yet, because she wasn’t the “model heroine”, her impact was muted.
