It’s really not good form to use a ripped image complete with watermark at the top of your article, and the AKB photo you’re using is years old.
These things matter.
Also, Japan is changing. It’s not the ‘physical medium monolith’ you depict. HMV Shibuya closed down a few years ago, and the remaining Tower Records now sell accessories and coffee alongside music because that’s the only way they can stay afloat.
Spotify isn’t here yet, true, but you can choose from Line Music, Google Play and Apple Music (to give just three examples), and these services are being heavily marketed.
Don’t consign Japan to the CD scrapheap just yet.
