Sundar Pichai’s rise to fame in 90 seconds

In this video we take a look at Google CEO Sundar Pichai, examining how he made his name in the business world and revealing his net worth.

Pichai joined Google in 2004 and very quickly became their rising star; his work on Google Toolbar was the driving force behind turning the company’s search engine into the default search engine for Firefox and Internet Explorer users.

He then developed the idea into a web browser — Google Chrome — which is now the most popular web browser in the world, and was also the brains behind a number of other Google products including Gmail, Google Maps and Android.

This video is part of a series that charts the lives and careers of leaders in the technology sector, taking in their early successes, greatest defeats and the innovations that made them famous.

Future episodes in this series will take a closer look at the careers of other tech giants including Amazon chief Jeff Bezos and Wikipedia entrepreneur Jimmy Wales. Last week’s episode focused on Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
