Google Fiber just launched here in Huntsville, Alabama. They are leasing lines from public utility. They launched several months ago and have less than 100 subscribers (as of June).
Several issues they’re having:
1. The service is pretty expensive.
2. Almost every other provider — worried that Google was launching — launched Gig service at similar pricing. So… if you wanted the high speed and you already had that service, and the pricing was close, why bother switching?
