Working with Metamask and Rinkeby

As part of an assignment I was tasked with obtaining the current price of Bitcoin and Ethereum then transferring $5 of Ether to another account.

Here we have the Redux actions for obtaining BTC and ETH prices in $USD

This dispatches to our Reducer and updates our app accordingly.

In order to transfer Ether we first are going to install Metamask by going to Metamask.io

Download the Chrome Extension and create 2 accounts.

We are now going to use Rinkeby which gives us Test or Fake Ether to transfer between accounts at https://faucet.rinkeby.io/

I used the Google Plus option

Let’s do the Google Plus option — > Open up Metamask now that it’s installed and copy Account 1’s address to clipboard and use for the Google Plus option. Select the 3 day option.

Verify that you have the Ether in your account by checking.

We have our test Ether!
