One by one, the players walked over to a World War II veteran who is the grandfather of one of the team members, and shook his hand. Coaches found out that the veteran would be attending the game and thought it would be a great idea to honor him.

As our WWII vets are gradually dying off, that would be a fantastic way to show respect — invite a few local vets to attend and present the colors at the beginning of the game.

They did something similar at the airshow I attended earlier in the month, which was awesome (The most striking thing about the airshow was how patriotic the whole thing was, but it’s not the type of event that attracts America-haters, that’s for certain).
