I agree, I’m also growing tired of the rancorous political rhetoric, but given the alternative — surrendering the field to people who are utterly hostile to me as a person — what choice is there?

And, realistically speaking, given the tenor of the times, there really isn’t anything to be gained by eschewing politics — like Mao’s Red Guard, some will suss out political meaning in anything and hate you anyway.

To paraphrase Trotsky, You may not be interested in politics, but politics is interested in you.
