I too dislike The Shawshank Redemption for its cloying sentimentality.

The Dead Zone is worth mentioning here simply for being a mediocre David Cronenberg film. Hard to believe the same director who made Videodrome, Dead Ringers and Naked Lunch helmed this snoozer.
