If the answer is yes, then hold up as Heroes those who have gotten us where we are today and ignore any and all attrocities they committed to achieve their goals.
Because, of course, this issue boils down to a Manichean moralism between tearing down a statue, kicking and spitting as it’s dragged off, or ‘ignoring atrocities’.
If the answer is no, then we must expose and condemn those evils and endeavor to achieve societal, industrial and economic progress without repeating said catastrophic actions…
So those Confederate monuments endanger ‘societal, industrial and economic progress’? Funny but, since we managed to smash both the Imperial Japanese and the Nazis with those monuments in place, I’m calling BS on that…
