I disagree. I think Hillary did offer a substantive vision, even had it all laid out on her website in quite a bit of detail. But many would rather hear boastful statements and empty rhetoric, maybe because it felt good but it was even unbelievable to many of Trump’s supporters (e.g. Not really believing he’d build an actual wall or take away their health insurance- remember “Don’t believe what he says, believe what he means”?). How does one compete against that? It’s gut-based, not rational. Maybe with a white Southern male (see Carter, B Clinton) as the messenger. But not from a woman. And one with a political history. That’s a no-go.
