There’s an enormous difference between a modern CAD model and a Sketch document. The CAD file is in an actual model that gets used as input to the next phase of the work pipeline. Check out what Revit does, and imagine something similar to manage software throughout the development process:

Architectural tools were at the Sketch level back in 1981. They’ve invented a lot of interesting stuff since, and we could learn something from there.
