“but maybe a better first step would be calling these problems what they really are, and they are mental disease”
First, they’re not diseases, they are disorders. There’s a difference. Second, as the goal is always to achieve optimum ‘mental health’, the label is appropriate. It also sends more of a positive message. It’s important that positivity is maintained whenever possible in order to successfully eradicate the stigma.
