During our time in Paris, we had the opportunity to visit a different type of collaborative space: Partech Shaker. We met Marine, who look after the community inside the space for a tour and the story behind one of the most active building in the Parisian startup landscape!

Could you tell us a bit more about Partech Shaker?

Partech Shaker has been created in 2014 by the VC firm Partech with with the objective to support the French tech ecosystem. Partech Shaker is, on one hand, a place to work and on the other hand a place to meet and exchange with professionals on topics such as digital transformation and growth through collaboration.

Located 33 rue du Mail in Paris, the campus welcomes startups which have already passed the initial and starting phases. Since 2016, its program Europe Made Easy guides foreign tech startups in conquering the French or European market from Paris. In September 2017, Partech Shaker will welcome the very first batch of Techstars Paris.

What kind of Impact does Partech Shaker has on the Parisian startup scene?

The Shaker is a place where you constantly innovate and collaborate with startups and with Corporates. It was the first place of a kind created by a VC firm in 2014. Since then, it has demonstrated its integration in the startup ecosystem by being very well connected to other incubators and coworking spaces. It allows entrepreneurs, whatever the stage of their project to deepen their knowledge or to discover the path of other entrepreneurs through regular meetups, such as Entrepreneurs talks and more technical workshops.

A glimpse of Partech Shaker

Who are the members of Partech Shaker?

Partech Shaker is home to big american startups such as Dropbox or Pinterest, which have chosen it as their base for the development of their activities in Europe. European startups such as made.com, Influans, Kantox or Lineup7 or bigger Corporates like BNP Paribas, Dentsu Aegis Network, Econocom or Haworth have also established themselves out of the Shaker.

How do you create link between members?

Partech Shaker is a workplace and an environment allowing you to grow in the best conditions. We have a team dedicated to run the community in-house, which is a mix between startups, tech partners, corporates and more. Their role is to connect the different actors in their growth and support them when they encounter issues.

Connecting them happens after discussing with both sides to make sure we will create a win/win environment and save time to both of them in making sure there is a match.

Additionally, we also propose to our members, events that allow them to gather, share, exchange and learn from each other. New event formats are soon going to be launched.

The success you are the most proud of?

First thing first, it’s the success of all the startups which went through the Shaker! We don’t like to see a startup leave, but if it leaves to get bigger office it means it is successful. And that’s the biggest reward!

Then, our Entrepreneurs talk have been ranked among the 10 best parisian meetups by 99designs. That’s also a great proof that we add value to the ecosystem. Entrepreneurs Talks have now been renamed Partech Shake & Learn, inscriptions here.

What are your future projects with the Shaker? Are you planning to open in other cities?

The team behind Partech Shaker work hands-in-hands with Techstars to welcome their first batch, which will start in September 2017. It’s coming very soon and we are all very excited!

We are also working on new type of events for Entrepreneurs, stay tuned for more on that matter very soon :)
