I imagine many young entrepreneurs are embarrassed by the numbers and don’t think that 8 paying customers is significant. They don’t have the experience to know how grueling it is to get 8 people to pay for anything! They also want to sound and look bigger than they are.

We did this with our services business until we realized that we were just two dudes, and that people would hire two dudes with the right experience. If you’re small, be small until you’re big.
