I’ve found that it makes a significant difference to call the wife at several points during negotiation. Not only can she price and feature check on the internet, but she acts as the final decision maker to counter-balance “the manager“ who shows up late to the party.

Make sure to proudly let the sales person know that “My wife doesn’t like the deal.” and “Yes, I always do what my wife tells me!” :)
