Mature ideas in a new golf cart
The Advanced EV A-series, first introduced in late 2014, may be a relatively new line of golf carts for the personal transportation market.
But, by using mature ideas like, integrating time-tested components, being parts and service friendly, and focusing on comfort, the A-series delivers a quality vehicle with a smooth, quiet ride for users. It’s currently being offered factory-direct to dealers and distributors.
The A-series line refers to Advanced EV’s carts with the golf cart body style. There are nine models designed for carrying people:
Three 36V models: A2-Fleet; A2; and, A2+2
And six 48V models: A2; A2+2; A4; A4+2; A6 and, A6+2.
Standard equipment, except for the A2-Fleet model, includes a full complement of lights and instrumentation…head, tail, and brake lights, turn signals, horn, speedometer, state of charge meter, side mirrors, rear drum brakes, reverse beeper and retractable seat belts.
DC power also comes standard, but for those needing more torque and range, the 48V vehicles can be ordered with AC drive. Of course, popular accessories, like rain enclosures, windshields, and more are available.
One of the risks of buying a newer brand of golf carts is its track record…there usually isn’t one. The Advanced EV A-series was born from the idea of integrating a new body style with components that have a successful track record in the industry.
Each model in the A-series, therefore, uses key components…the ADC motor, the Curtis controller, the Dual Pro on-board charger, an LY transaxle and Carlisle tires. These have stood the test of time and have proven to be reliable.
The ADC 3.0kW motor drives the 36V models. Teamed with the 1266–275–300 amp Curtis controller, a high-speed 10.25 to one transaxle gearing and premium batteries, these carts have a good climbing ability, speeds between 14–19 mph and 50–62 mile range.
The 48V models use the ADC 3.7kW motor together with the 1268–400 amp Curtis controller, and either a high-speed transaxle or a high-torque 12.31 to one transaxle. Beginning with the A4+2, the high-torque transaxle is standard.
The A6 and A6+2 vehicles have hydraulic brakes for more effective braking for vehicles of this size. The 48V carts also have a good climbing ability with speeds between 19–24 mph and 50–62 mile range on premium batteries.
Again, 48V vehicles can be equipped with a 4.0kW AC motor. This will allow speeds of 25 mph and a range of 100–120 miles.
Parts and Service Friendly
Parts, particularly warranty parts, are sourced from the Advanced EV facility in Texas. A manufacturer’s 3-yr limited warranty covers each vehicle. Dealer service staffs simply call the Texas Parts and Service Consultants when parts and warranty service needs come up. Most issues are handled easily over the phone.
Durability and Comfort
The A-series body and dashboard, built from automotive grade polypropylene (PP) material, give the cart a solid look and feel. The roof canopy is a vacuum formed ABS plastic.
The roof, both top and underside, are painted the same color as the cart body. As an additional feature detail, a rubber stopper added to the roof center support provides stability, minimizes vibration, makes a quieter ride and reduces possibility of stress fractures.
The A-series uses a high tensile steel welded chassis. The chassis, as well as, the steel uprights are treated with anti-rust protection. They undergo an electrophoretic treatment followed by an application of a powder coated paint. To further guard against rust, stainless steel nuts and bolts are used throughout the vehicle.
Ride comfort is addressed in a couple of ways. First, the vehicles have an independent support frame and balance bar on the rear of cart. This allows the passenger area to move independently of the chassis. Secondly, instead of leaf springs, the suspension consists of 4-wheel independent coil spring over a shock absorber. The chassis and suspension take the bumps while passengers enjoy the ride in custom cut seats.
So you see the Advanced EV A-series is a new solution with mature ideas. The carts use proven components and are warrantied from Texas.
