It Is Not Okay to Listen to Accused Serial Rapist R. Kelly

Really great article. I agree that because he’s still currently making music and most likely victimizing young girls somewhere, nobody should patronize his product (not that I ever did). I do wonder, however, how one should treat and artist’s body of work, after they are done creating it, and after their crimes have happened and been dealt with. Say, when Kelly is dead, should no one enjoy his music then (not that I enjoy his music at all)? Should no one ever enjoy the Cosby show because of Cosby’s alternate legacy of wreckage? This is an inner debate I have yet to figure out myself. Cosby, for one, is someone who’s comedic legacy I enjoy a great deal, but if enjoying his work in some way contributed to the damage he caused, I know for a fact I would never support it one bit. It’s a complicated and tricky subject. Great, in depth piece nonetheless though, Nathan.
