I have only seen word processors. Vi is suitably named as the word onomatepeically expresses the frustrating feelings engendered in its use. Bravo on the Xerox Alto was a massive step forward wits its clean Medium-like design. In contrast the modern email editors with their lowest common denominator approach were indeed baroque. I am not particularly impressed with tablet editors where the tactile feedbacof the keyboard has been replaced by some sort of AI guessing game that harks back to the early mobile phone.

The promise of speech recognition still does not appeal as it become too good and leaves the human brain behind. Its the equivalent of the microwave instant burger all fur and no knickers, as my mum would say.
