Insurance is more socialistic than capitalistic. I didn’t vote for what roads get built or not built. More on topic, I can’t opt in or out. But I accept that those roads are useful to society and am not complaining about the cost.
The same can be said for schools. I pay for schools although I have no kids to use them. But an educated citizen is worth paying for.
Toll roads would be capitalism, and don’t be surprised to see Trump try to take us there. Private prisons for profit are another bad idea. Schools for profit have proven to be a poor substitute to public schools. (See Trump University)
Insurance, with everyone in the pool through taxes, is an example of everyone sharing risk, and the real comparison I was making. I might get sick, I might not. You might get sick, you might not. There is no reason we shouldn’t allow both of us to get equal care.
