I’m sorry you lost your mother when you were that young, and also for the way it happened. I can’t imagine how hard that would be. I can understand how that would make you want to keep people at a distance.

You’re not alone in the boat. Everybody’s got issues; it’s to your credit you have the courage and honesty to share some of yours. That already puts you ahead of most of the rest of us.
