If only they had the money…A few years ago I worked fro 2 years as a ‘temporary’ worker, for a large multi-national. I was paid slightly above the minimum wage as the job involved working a rotationg 3 shift pattern. My pay was around half that of the contracted full time workers I was working alongside. These workers also received share options.
During my 2 years at the company, they proudly stated that their increasing profits were largely based on a reduction in labour costs.
If I had had £10,000 to invest in shares in this company (about a years net salary for me in the job) at the start of my employment, I would have earned more from my investment that I would have from the work.
Nice to know that my cheap labour was helping…next time I guess I’ll have to borrow the investment money from the bank…
