The Kings Just Made the Worst Trade in NBA History

A few days ago, the Sacramento Kings made one of the worst trades in NBA history. Not just NBA history, potentially the worst trade in the history of any professional sport. It had many around the league scratching their heads, and wondering how the Pelicans were able to take Demarcus Cousins off the Sacramento Kings hands for so little.
The Kings did not ask for nearly enough in this trade. The Kings have been in the NBA draft lottery for 10 straight years, and with those 10 picks, they’ve managed to draft exactly one star-Cousins. One of the best centers in the league, Cousins would have demanded a huge contract this summer. The Kings decided to trade him while they could still get something for him, rather than letting him walk in free agency. I respect that decision. But, they got almost nothing in return for him. I mean literally hardly anything that they can actually build a team around. The Kings are back to square one.
The Kings got Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, and first and second round pick. Hardly enough for any star center in the league, let alone Demarcus Cousins. You can’t build a team around any of those guys they got back. The Kings get the Pelicans first round pick this season, which will probably be middle of the first round. Not great. The Sixers also have the rights to swap first round picks with the Kings. Even worse. The Kings might not even get to pick in the top 10 of the draft. The Kings now have no star players they can build around on the roster, and bad draft picks with a GM that has an even worse eye for finding talent. I would not want to be a Sacramento Kings fan right now. But hey, at least they have a nice shiny new arena.
