I anticipated a lot of this in my upcoming novel, The Internet President: None of the Above. Too bad I’m a slow writer. In my book people are so angry that the main two parties have both split in two. The main character runs for president with a combination of a few state ballots and a bunch of write-in votes. He does a road trip across the country getting registered as a write-in candidate. That’s right most states don’t count write-ins unless they register with the Secretary of State for that state. There are 7 states that don’t even allow write-in votes.
