Comparisons

Have you ever compared yourself to someone and then felt bad about yourself?

Why aren’t I as ‘successful’ as them? Look at all the awesome stuff they have or are doing. Why cant I be like that? Why are they so happy?

When you feel this way, its easy to swirl down a bit and feel, well…like shit.

You have 2 choices. You can either wallow in self pity, or you can use it as fuel to motivate you to do better in your own life.

Obviously, you’re going to want to choose the second…

But if you take a look at this little mind game from another perspective- and you analyze the phrase ‘do better’ — it all seems a bit ridiculous, doesn’t it?

If you realize how, small, and relatively insignificant your life, your worries, and concerns are in the grand scheme — it feels almost stupid to want to ‘do better’ then someone else. Because you can never win.

There will always be someone with more. It’s a losing game.

The truly successful people…They don’t play the game. They beat it. They live on their own terms. Comparing yourself to others is living by someone elses expectations of ‘happiness’ and ‘success’.

Using someone else as fuel or motivation is bullshit, and a losing battle. Take a top down perspective. Look at the bigger picture. Find your own meaning — you’re guaranteed to win.
