The Bell CEO looked ill-prepared for the discussion with Heritage committee on their DEI, corporate, and social governance mode. The CEO mentioned high inflation, productivity, and other issues for the BCE decisions. The reality is that stock prices have barely moved since 2015. The overall revenue is 1.8% and that is sluggish growth. Decisions on headcount are always about managing operational costs as part of improving margins.

Canada does have a productivity issue and that has been made worse by Justin Trudeau policies including excessive taxation and regulations. https://medium.com/@paulyoung_81567/canada-needs-to-address-productivity-challenges-c5cea91323fd

I am all for supporting businesses especially the media, but it needs to be done in a fair way that does not prop up unprofitable business. Private podcast growing as a better way to manage costs and content. https://madeinca.ca/podcast-statistics-canada/

One thing consistent with Justin Trudeau is that he is always looking at ways to both spend money and tax either business or people. Trudeau has $40B budget deficit — https://medium.com/@paulyoung_81567/how-justin-trudeau-stray-from-his-fiscal-guardrails-4c9afce11f7c
