Why not Bernie..?
Lately I have been seeing a lot of articles on Medium proclaiming that Hillary is the superior candidate. So today I decided to take a little time to elaborate why I stand for Bernie Sanders. Recently I was talking to my mom, who is a staunch Clinton supporter, and trying to understand her reasoning behind supporting Hilary. Most of her arguments centered around the fact that she has vast experience, “don’t you want a women president??” and the fact that youngsters like us are “uninformed” and “following the bandwagon”. I have no problem with Hilary’s experience. I have no problem with voting for Hilary to become the first woman president. I do have a problem with being called “uninformed” and “following the bandwagon”. I believe all of the Hilary articles that I have read on Medium can be categorized under one of those headings.
If anything Bernie’s supporters are more informed than any of the supporters of the other candidates. To prove this point I have listed a few videos of Bernie over the years that I came across which essentially shows how genuine Bernie has been in standing up for the issues he believes in.
For every major mistake United States has made in the past 30 years, there is a video of Bernie Sanders trying to stop it:
To call us “uninformed” or “following the bandwagon” or even a “protest vote” is a brash misjudgment on part of the older generation. Make of this information what you will, but come election day I know who I will be voting for.
Bernie has a record better than most Americans. He has been on the right side of history before the majority of people joined his ideas. He has held his beliefs for the past 40 years whereas most politicians have had to adapt over time. I for one, would rather support the candidate who shares my beliefs and has had them for decades rather than a candidate who’s ideas change once the majority agree with it.
I want a president who already knows the right answer, not one who believes in whatever wins the vote. So why not Bernie?
