One of the most requested features by teachers was to be able to create break out groups and assign them to students. Now you can easily accomplish that.

The students have individual boards that mirror whatever is on the teacher board. The teacher can create break out boards in addition and assign them to students. All of the individual boards and the group break out boards are visible to the teacher at all times in realtime.

Go to https://whiteboard.chat

Step 1: Create a classroom/multisession board

Click the Start teaching button. This will create a multi board session.

Step 2: Add content. You can type, draw or even upload a PDF to create multipage notebook.

Adding a PDF automatically creates multiple pages.

Step 3: Invite students to join the class

Just click the invite button and then the clipboard icon to copy the invite and send it via email/calendar invite to students.

When the students join they get their own boards. What ever is written on the teacher’s board is automatically replicated to the student’s board. The students can even see the teacher’s mouse on their board.

Step 4: Create breakout session or groups

Click the Avatars on the top right to bring up the group dialog.

Then you can click the create group button to start creating groups.

The student’s board will automatically change to the group board when they are assigned to a group.

T

Hit the create group button to create this group with Student 1 and Student 3. If the students are forced to login (via the gear icon) their actual email and name will show up.

You can now hit the grid view button on the bottom of the screen to see the whole class. There is one tile per student and you can observe them working in real time.

I hope this writeup helps. Please let me know if you have comments or suggestions on how to improve this forever learning tool.
