Couplets for Chloe

A chance in life begot’n,
A chance in love forgot’n.

For not a sane and man would seize,
Becharm’d by thee and all thy mist.

Am I of that:
Me man not rat?

Thy silky eyes of bluish sky,
Which break’st me heart to see thou cry.

Thy bounded beauty bound’st me by thy hair;
That neck of leaven’d bare with flaunted flair.

Dost thou beknowest of those legs of thee?
The way thou walk’st along thy clumsy be.

Thy tiny silhouette hast render’d of me stiff,
As I embrac’d thee then, amidst the sigh and grief.

Which mak’st me heart beshaken ev’ry time with trill;
Which all in thee, I plac’d my love with all my will.

Alas!

Love ye O’ Chloe;
Love me no Chloe.

I seek’d to speak the one unspoken word,
Whilst ending up with all the blurt and hurt.

Though just the word “I love” may suffice not,
This feeling in me heart wilt never rot.

I beg to thee with all I got:
Thou lov’st me not — thou keep’st me not.

Then sayest thou to me all the unsayable;
Wilt I then leave to bare all the unbearable.

Belovest me with none thy love;
That time wilt come, I’ll tough the tough.

Let love do love, and me do me;
Let then this duffer better be.
