I understand that start-ups fall under the general principle of high risk equal maximum rewards, still there are minimal business practices that are required to not be classified as scam or con. To excuse start-ups that fail to pay employees as the norm is not acceptable. For a c-level exec who is expecting to see something other than an hourly pay rate that is different but line staff can’t be expected to fund a start-up. If that is the business model it needs to be spelled out very clearly and contractually. Regardless, lying is never a sound or acceptable business practice unless you are unethical and engaging in a con. To excuse start-ups of the ethical business practices is a disservice to the many that follow standards and ethics. Just my $0.02
