Dave Coresh is an artist who stands out whether you see a picture of him first or hear his music first. His distinct appearance paired with his genre bending music make him an enigma amongst a world where sounds, looks and styles can easily overlap. His latest track “TALK2ME” is another testament to this uniqueness.

“TALK2ME” is one of those songs where when the song starts, it STARTS. There is no buildup or intro where we hear Dave talking to people in the studio or a sample where we hear dialogue from a movie. The song just comes barreling in with Dave’s straightforward yet still an ear worm hook. This hook, paired with the warping guitars in the production, tell the listener if they weren’t fully paying attention before the music started, they have but no choice to now. This lines up perfectly with Dave’s own words of calling this song a “cry for attention”.

The hook of “TALK2ME” takes up a large portion of the song, with feature and fellow No Fun collective member Mother Wata offering her take on it by bringing a different vocal tone and the same uncaged energy. The hook’s contradictory nature is again, a testament to the song’s meaning as Dave explained: “…someone can start an argument because they have something to say but they don’t know how to articulate it properly.” His verse dials back the energy just a tad so the focus can shift to it and while it is short, it is still effective with lines like “I’m goin dumb in the VIP / like ion wanna hear lip / the bodyguard on my hip / Case one of the homies trip” With the hook being the core of the song, a live performance is guaranteed to move the crowd into controlled chaos much akin to what we see happen in the music video for the track. Dave stated this song will “…merge the avenues of conversational nuance and aggression…” and I feel this is exactly what it did.

“TALK2ME” is a song that would fit excellently in a work out playlist as well as times when you need to let out any bottled up feelings you have. Its hook is infections and its bombastic and aggressive production make it something that forces you to stand up the second you hear it. If this is the “first installment” then I can only imagine what he’ll do next.

“TALK2ME” is available on all streaming platforms now and you can follow Dave on Instagram and Twitter and Mother Wata on Twitter and Instagram as well.
