Progressives don’t scorn Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi because they’re women. After all, progressives do support leaders like Elizabeth Warren, Tulsi Gabbard, and Nina Turner. Instead, the first three leaders that I mentioned have a serious gap between their rhetoric and their policy actions. Pelosi, at least, has stopped pretending that progressive priorities matter, but now Harris looks to walk in the same corporate path that Clinton followed. Progressives look to leaders who don’t treat public service as an opportunity to make themselves fabulously wealthy by selling out their base — which Clinton and Pelosi have done and Harris has already started to show signs of doing.
