The Type Of Reader I am
Reading? Who has the time. I wouldn’t know exactly how to describe myself as a reader. It’s never been a priority for me. Except for when I was younger. I loved reading children’s books and fables. I liked reading stuff with a moral. Now that I am older though, the expectations for my age as a reader is very high. I remember in elementary school every student would take a test to find out what level reader you were. I always scored high which was surprising to me. But I was always excited that my score was high and I could read big kid books. Until it was time to actually pick a book. My teachers would force me into my level books and they could be explained as BORING. I didn’t want to read big kid books. I wanted to continue reading my animal tales.
Now, it’s hard to identify me as a reader. I wouldn’t call me much of a delayed onset reader. I don’t want to own books to make me look better. I really don’t need them sitting in my home to make my intelligence look sky high. But I love the way books look. I love how a fresh book smells and I love the feeling of holding a hard cover book. I like the clean, white pages from a new book. And I also like the beaten up old books that have obviously been read too many times. I am a bookophile.
