My next big adventure: Knight Foundation

Just as technology shook up the music industry with the introduction of iTunes and Spotify, technology has upended journalism, giving the news business a much-needed opportunity to reinvent itself. With this, we can tell stories, deliver content experiences and develop business models in ways we’ve never seen before. This is truly an exciting time to be at the forefront of journalism.

And now, I have the perfect opportunity to shape strategies at the intersection of journalism and emerging technology. I will be the director/journalism focusing on technology innovation on Jennifer Preston’s team at Knight Foundation starting May 30.

I will oversee investments and initiatives designed to drive transformational change in news media. I will connect a diverse network of entrepreneurs, innovators, journalists and creative thinkers to develop new digital products and applications. I will help explore new models and methods that can sustain the future of journalism.

With 20+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams of journalists, technologists, data-scientists and designers, working at media outlets including NBC News Digital, The Associated Press, The Miami Herald, and The Wall Street Journal, I’ve been fortunate to have developed unique insight into and knowledge of our industry.

Now, I am ready to help innovators to launch breakthrough ideas from concept to reality across new digital and emerging technology platforms.
