Fahkreya, this is a thoughtful, balanced, and poignant analysis of a very important issue. Perhaps this is a classic case of taking a long term goal and teasing it apart into attainable short term goals. That is, the long term goal is for all students to pursue post-secondary education. But instead of pushing ill-prepared kids into college, perhaps there should be other short term goals that we should work toward that will ultimately help us achieve that longer term goal. If so, I suppose the next question becomes what are those short term goals? The first thing comes to my mind is chronic truancy. What do you think?
