A different design approach for the “photo album” button, inspired by Mount Fuji

In designing UI, it’s a good idea to stick to generally understood symbols. But in my projects, I like to take the “base” of a ubiquitous icon, and explore if I can give it our own, unique twist that’s more fitting to our particular experience.

On this design, I’ve taken the two mountains + the little sun icon that people know (and love?) and gave it a twist. I retained the base mountain and sun, but used our color scheme, and opted for more scenic iconography. Looking at mountains from around the world, the beautiful Mount Fuji felt perfect for an icon.
