Why you should sleep naked

Being naked is good for you

It might be time to throw out your pajamas. It turns out, sleeping naked has a lot of benefits that improve sleep quality, your health and your well-being. If you’ve thought about it before but felt uncomfortable with doing it, it might be time to reconsider sleeping in your natural bodysuit.

You stay cooler. A very slight increase in temperature can increase activity in areas of the brain that regulate sleep cycles, resulting in a more disturbed sleep. Sleeping naked lets your body cool down more efficiently, resulting in a more stable temperature when you sleep.

You sleep better. There’s evidence sleeping naked cools down your body, making you release growth hormones while reducing your cortisol levels. This results in a much better sleep.

You burn more calories. When you sleep naked, your body has to do more work to keep your temperature levels stable. This results in more calories burned, which when combined with a healthy lifestyle, contributes to staying fit.

Slows down aging. Staying cool slows down the process of cell aging. The hormone melatonin is released into your body which acts as a natural anti-aging agent. (Melatonin also helps you sleep better)

Better circulation. Sleeping without clothes may result in better circulation. Essentially, there are no clothing folds that you lay on that might cut off circulation.

Sleeping naked with your partner is (very) beneficial. Skin-to-skin contact with a significant other releases oxytocin, also referred to as the love hormone. Oxytocin can boost your mood, help maintain your immune system, and even spark feelings of emotional intimacy. Couples that sleep naked together also report that they have sex more often, which increases general well-being.
